Your team
You will be part of the Service Optimisation team in the Governance and Transformation Services Division, which acts as a cross-functional service platform providing colleagues across the ECB with innovative best practices, methodologies and tools to ensure service excellence in their key activities.
In your role as Service Optimisation trainee, you will work in a fast-paced environment and gain insights into a broad range of topics and initiatives in fields like service design and optimisation, customer centricity, agile, transformational support and hybrid working, among others.
You will be part of a diverse and dynamic eight-strong team that seeks to achieve continuous innovation, quality improvement, efficiency and agility across all services offered by the units reporting to the Chief Services Office areas and beyond.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
Your role
As a Service Optimisation trainee, you will:
- support service design and optimisation initiatives;
- help to create presentations and other visual materials by brainstorming the underlying storyline, choosing the right content to cover and proposing an appropriate framework, designing a structured outline and conceptualising key messages;
- realise the conceptual proposal by creating reader-friendly, informative and impactful presentations and/or other visual materials to present and promote the team’s service offer, as well as Division initiatives, to stakeholders across the ECB;
- contribute to workshops, initiatives, roadshows and other events by drafting and preparing relevant supporting materials and facilitating the discussion and collection of input;
- apply quantitative and qualitative thinking to analyse problems, present results and propose solutions;
- prepare documentation to support the development of team services;
- identify potential customers/target audiences, conduct research on stakeholders and jointly identify topics for supporting initiatives.
This traineeship offers you excellent opportunities to gain insights into service design and optimisation practices, customer centricity, design thinking techniques and agile methodologies and to put into practice and further grow your communication, facilitation and problem-solving skills. You will have the chance to support and shadow experienced team members – including a buddy who will be assigned to you from day one – and benefit from their knowledge and regular feedback to help you in your professional development. You will experience a steep learning curve, gaining soft and hard skills in a fast-moving, stimulating and innovative environment.
You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex problems. You strive to know and anticipate stakeholder needs, and will signal any need for change and propose alternative solutions.
