Your team

You will be part of the Digital Security Services Division in the Directorate General Information Systems (DG/IS). The Division comprises over 30 IT security professionals and provides security governance, assurance, engineering and operational services to protect the European Central Bank (ECB) against cyber threats. 

You will join the Security Assurance team which is responsible for identity administration and governance, vulnerability management and security testing. Working closely with the other security teams in the Division, colleagues in DG/IS and staff in other business areas, you will primarily work on identity and access management-related topics, but you will also have the opportunity to work on other cybersecurity-related tasks within the team and Division.

Your role

As a Digital Security Specialist, with an initial focus on identity and access management, you will:

  • analyse current processes to identify potential improvements;
  • gather feedback from different stakeholders to understand their needs and issues ;
  • collaborate with the Security Engineering team to ensure that business and security requirements are properly implemented;
  • communicate changes to relevant stakeholders;
  • perform user tests to ensure that functionality works as intended;
  • update process documentation and training materials.

In this role, you will be able to actively participate in a multicultural team that strives for excellence and has the ambition to continuously improve existing processes to reach higher levels of security and user experience.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential: 

  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in cybersecurity, computer science or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
  • in addition to the above, a minimum of one year of experience in the field of cybersecurity, ideally in a similar role to that described above;
  • proven experience with the concepts of identity and access management;
  • the ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders from technical and non-technical backgrounds;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired: 

  • experience with scripting languages, data analytics and relevant tools;
  • training or certification in areas such as cybersecurity, security testing, or cloud computing;
  • a desire to learn and grow in the field of cybersecurity.

Further information

The contract offered will be fixed-term, the appointment being for one year as of the exact starting date of the selected person. Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints. This may result in a staff member with a non-convertible fixed-term contract being offered a convertible contract in accordance with the ECB Conditions of Employment.
