Your team

You will lead the Design & Digital Division in the Directorate General Communications. Our Directorate General has more than 200 members of staff. We keep people informed of the ECB’s mission, work and decisions, provide advice and expertise to all areas of the ECB to help them communicate with diverse audiences, convey complex information in a comprehensible way, safeguard and enhance the ECB’s reputation and build trust in its actions.

The Directorate General has recently undergone a reorganisation and now consists of the Design & Digital Division, the Language Services Division, the Newsroom Division, the Public Communication Division and the Strategic Communication Section. The Design & Digital Division contributes to enhancing visual communication and supporting the ECB’s efforts to connect with the wider public.

In your role as Head of the Design & Digital Division, you will lead around 30 members of staff in three teams responsible for:
  • creating multimedia communication products (including pictures, videos, animations, infographics, etc.), running our state-of-the-art multimedia studio, branding and creating, for example, the visual design for our flagship events, and advising stakeholders on how to create the most impactful visual communications;
  • developing, managing and maintaining the external websites of the ECB, ECB Banking Supervision and the European Systemic Risk Board, and coordinating the technical production and digital distribution of statutory and expert publications;
  • supporting event management activities, assessing and identifying opportunities for high-level speaking engagements and answering standard media queries.

The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.

Your role

As the Head of the Design & Digital Division you will:
  • shape the strategic direction of the new Division, fostering integration, a team spirit and a sense of pride among its staff;
  • in collaboration with the Deputy Head of Division, manage the Division’s activities, including its human resources and budget, by setting divisional objectives in line with the strategic goals of the Directorate General and by recruiting, supervising, coaching and managing the performance of its staff;
  • drive forward efforts to enhance and modernise the ECB’s visual communications and corporate branding for expert audiences and the wider public;
  • supervise the finalisation and professional management of our state-of-the-art multimedia studio;
  • review and develop further the external websites, including their publication practices, with a focus on metrics and demand;
  • develop further a state-of-the-art event management function;
  • manage relations with customers, stakeholders and external providers, enhancing processes and maximising efficiency;
  • coordinate the conceptual design and implementation of apps, tools and services in close cooperation with the Directorate General Information Systems, developing and implementing a strategy to optimise online performance (involving, for example, search engines, affiliates and retargeting);
  • support senior management in the strategic planning and organisation of the Directorate General Communications;
  • represent the Division, the Directorate General and the ECB in internal and external meetings and committees dealing with design and digital matters.

The position offers you excellent opportunities to shape a new division, push the envelope on our visual communications and provide high quality solutions to the Directorate General and beyond. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
