Your team
You will be part of the Digital Security Services Division in the Directorate General Information Systems. The Division, comprising over 40 IT security professionals, provides security governance, assurance, engineering and operational services to protect the European Central Bank (ECB) against cyber threats.
Together with colleagues in the Security Engineering team, you will provide security technology services to the ECB by planning and developing new technical security controls and by ensuring the existing controls are working effectively. The team’s main responsibilities include security information and event management (SIEM), identity governance and administration (IGA) and privileged access management (PAM) services.

Your role
As an IT Security Engineer you will:
- work on integrating IT infrastructure and business services with a PAM platform based on CyberArk;
- support and maintain the PAM service;
- contribute to implementing security improvements as part of a security improvement programme;
- proactively identify and communicate opportunities for improvement in security services, technologies, processes and documentation;
- contribute to other engineering tasks.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems or another relevant field (click here for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of five years’ experience in the field of information technology security, of which at least four years must have been as a security engineer within a team or as a consultant;
- experience with general-purpose development languages such as Python or JavaScript;
- experience in some of the following areas:
- PAM solutions, preferably CyberArk;
- email security services;
- identity and access management, including federation;
- network security services;
- vulnerability management;
- machine learning;
- experience in operating mission-critical IT infrastructure environments;
- experience in working with external companies and service providers;
- a good understanding of and experience working with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes, particularly change, incident and problem management;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
