Your team

The Organisational Effectiveness Group is part of the ECB’s Chief Services Office. We advise on strategic development, organisational development and collaboration with the Eurosystem and European banking supervision. We also provide secretariat services to the Organisational Development Committee (ODC).

Examples of our strategic development work include i) the design and implementation of the first strategic planning exercise for the period 2018-20; ii) a global benchmarking survey of the strategy function in central banks, which was conducted in 2020; and iii) the preparation of the 2022 strategic planning exercise.

Regarding our work on organisational development and Eurosystem collaboration, we are currently coordinating, for example, a joint project of the ODC and the Human Resource Conference to produce a new Governing Council report on the use of and trends in Eurosystem human resources and the potential for Eurosystem collaboration.

In your role as a Strategy Analyst, you will join a team of four members of staff reporting to the ECB’s Chief Services Officer. Depending on the needs of individual projects, the team is supplemented with additional staff members, who are either recruited via internal mobility or sourced from strategy or management consulting firms.

The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.

Your role

As a Strategy Analyst you will:

  • take ownership of the tasks you are assigned in relation to the ECB’s business strategy and organisational development (including conducting business analysis and external benchmarking, preparing presentations, workshops and communication materials, providing support and advice to business areas, collating responses to surveys), as well as coordinate and prioritise your own workload;
  • contribute to regular tasks and projects related to organisational development and Eurosystem collaboration (in the context of the ECB’s content contribution to the ODC);
  • foster collaboration across the ECB’s business areas and all hierarchical levels, as well with external stakeholders of the ECB and European banking supervision.

The position offers you excellent opportunities to be involved in establishing and developing the strategy function at the ECB. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential:

  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in strategy, management or another relevant field (click here for details on degree equivalences);
  • in addition to the above, a minimum of two and ideally three or more years’ experience in the area of strategy, business or management consulting (external or in-house), benchmarking and/or organisational development;
  • proven experience of contributing to complex projects and/or coordinating smaller tasks – preferably in an international setting;
  • a good knowledge and understanding of the general framework, business and key processes of the ECB, the Eurosystem and European banking supervision;
  • proven experience in managing and guiding internal and external stakeholders and counterparts;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.

You are aware of your strengths and areas for development and know what motivates you to perform at your highest level.
