Your team

You will be part of the Governance and Transformation Services Division, which acts as a cross-functional service platform under the management of the Chief Services Office (CSO). Consisting of over 800 staff, the CSO delivers internal ECB services in administration, human resources, information systems and finance. 

Our Division has over 50 staff providing bank-wide services in the areas of communication, service delivery and optimisation, financial management, vendor management and quality management. We are currently working on transforming working practices across the CSO, fostering collaborative and cross-functional approaches with a focus on people, flexibility, learning and results.

In your role as Vendor Management Expert, you will be part of a team of 13 members of staff responsible for managing the ECB’s catalogue of internal services, helping business areas manage, monitor and analyse the performance of their internal services as well as assisting them with strategic sourcing, contract management and vendor relationship management.

Your role

As a Vendor Management Expert you will:
  • manage a portfolio of vendors and contracts in the area of facility management, in close collaboration with the staff and management of Directorate Administration;
  • engage and collaborate with Directorate Administration staff and management along the complete lifecycle of the contracts included in your portfolio, from the sourcing strategy phase, through the contract implementation phase to the renewal or termination of contracts;
  • actively contribute to the development of data analytics in the area of vendor and service management;
  • improve the efficiency and the impact of the contract and vendor management services offered by the Governance and Transformation Services Division to Directorate Administration.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential: 
  • a master’s degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science, business administration or another relevant field (click here for details on degree equivalences);
  • in addition to the above, at least seven years of hands-on experience in the areas of sourcing, contract and vendor management, including contract administration, performance and risk management;
  • experience in using data analytics to assess contract, vendor and service performance with a view to making actionable and plausible recommendations for improvement;
  • a proven ability to negotiate and conclude agreements with internal stakeholders and vendors;
  • knowledge of current market practices and trends, vendors (including practical aspects such as pricing models, service delivery, performance management, and/or relevant innovations in the field of facility management);
  • proven experience and a strong interest in customer service;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. 

Desired: 
  • an intermediate (B1) command of German;
  • experience in or knowledge of the financial aspects of contract and vendor management;
  • experience in the management of multi-supplier landscapes where several vendors need to collaborate to deliver a specific service to their shared customer.
