Your team

You will be part of the Directorate General Human Resources (DG/HR) and will help us to deliver on our vision: thrilled and talented people working for a prosperous Europe. With around 100 staff members, the Directorate General provides services to approximately 3,500 employees. You will join either the Business Partnering Division or the Talent Management Division and will help us to develop agile, customer-centric and strategic HR solutions and services in the areas of talent acquisition, leadership development, business partnering, employee engagement, as well as performance and career management.

On the basis of your education, areas of expertise or knowledge, and – where possible – your preferences, you will be assigned to one or more of the following tasks:

  • contributing to the design, development and implementation of policies, frameworks, services and/or tools in one or more of the following HR areas: career management, performance management, strategic workforce planning, learning and development and working culture;
  • contributing to HR initiatives across the European System of Central Banks, with a key focus on the training and development initiatives of the ECB, the national central banks and the national supervisory authorities;
  • supporting the roll-out of HR initiatives and processes, including workforce planning and performance management, as well as staff engagement surveys, mobility initiatives and specific client-driven projects;
  • contributing to initiatives and processes that aim to support and inspire employees during their career journey at the ECB and are related to career development, employability, connectedness, performance, and on- and offboarding;
  • supporting recruitment processes through data analysis, market research and benchmarking, and contributing to employer branding and talent attraction initiatives.

The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply, irrespective of your gender, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability or other characteristics.

Your role

As a trainee in Human Resources you will contribute to DG/HR’s ongoing work and new initiatives, for example by preparing presentations and contributing to policy documents, conducting policy and data analysis, carrying out market research or benchmarking studies, creating and running surveys, as well as contributing to the organisation or delivery of various HR tasks, initiatives and events.

The position offers you excellent opportunities to put into practice the knowledge you acquired during your studies, and you will gain an insight into the ECB’s activities and contribute to the ECB’s mission. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
