Your team
You will be part of the Premises Division in the Directorate Administration within the Directorate General Corporate Services. Our Directorate oversees the ECB’s technical infrastructure, facilities and security management services. The Premises Division’s responsibilities include real estate management, space and workplace allocation management, construction project management services, facility operation and maintenance and audio media services. We also coordinate the ECB’s art-related activities. We have a small data management and analytics team that analyses data from various databases, with a focus on facility management and technical documentation for our buildings. We are looking for four trainees to join various teams within the Premises Division.

Your role
As a trainee you will support our efforts to continuously improve and optimise our buildings and services. Your tasks will be supervised and will vary according to the team you join.
In all teams your role may include:
- conducting research and drafting reports;
- compiling and analysing (statistical) data;
- preparing and delivering presentations related to your activities and those of your team.
As a trainee in the Corporate Real Estate Management team you will:
- help the team manage the rental contracts within the ECB’s real estate portfolio, including contract changes, ancillary cost verification and regular meetings with landlords;
- support the handover of the Gallileo building from the landlord to the ECB starting from summer 2025;
- support the handover of the Eurotower from the ECB to the landlord at the end of 2025;
- contribute to divisional budget monitoring and reporting while implementing solutions to automate recurrent payments;
- develop analytics for the real estate market in Frankfurt.
As a trainee in the Space Management team you will:
- support the management of workspaces;
- contribute to maintaining data in the space management/computer-aided facility management (CAFM) software Planon;
- potentially participate in the ongoing transformation of the ECB’s workplace setup from dedicated/assigned workplaces (mainly in small offices) to an activity-based workplace design with unassigned workplaces for flexible use.
As a trainee in the Construction Project Management team you will:
- support project management activities and the implementation of construction projects and activities;
- potentially participate in the ongoing transformation of the ECB’s workplace setup from dedicated/assigned workplaces (mainly in small offices) to an activity-based workplace design with unassigned workplaces for flexible use;
- identify and work on AI use cases to increase efficiency in the team.
As a trainee in the Technical Facility Management Section you will:
- work with various databases, using tools that include Disc, Python, Tableau, PowerBI and Confluence;
- help improve maintenance planning and documentation and contribute to reducing energy consumption by automating data flows and preprocessing steps;
- support the provision of energy-related data for the ECB’s environmental reporting;
- further improve our dashboards, which cover energy, technical facility management, audio media, and the ECB’s environmental, social and governance practices;
- implement data-driven solutions to support management decision-making;
- identify and work on AI use cases to increase efficiency in the Premises Division;
- contribute to identifying and implementing energy-saving measures.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a bachelor’s degree or higher in business or public administration, facility management, architecture, engineering, risk management, mathematics, real estate management, statistics, econometrics, environmental protection, information technology or another relevant field;
- a general interest in European affairs, central banking and matters of relevance to the Premises Division;
- a good knowledge of the MS Office package;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Desired:
- an advanced knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, R);
- an advanced knowledge of BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI);
- an advanced knowledge of data management tools (e.g. cloud-based big data environments);
- experience working on AI projects, including preprocessing, selecting data, training appropriate machine learning models and deployment;
- experience working on computer science projects including identifying problems, collecting data and delivering solutions;
- a solid understanding of data modelling, including the ability to design, implement and maintain data structures that support efficient data storage, retrieval and analysis, as well as ensuring data integrity and consistency across various systems and platforms;
- knowledge of AutoCAD for working with architectural drawings;
- knowledge of, and some experience in, one or more of the following fields: service management, quality assurance, process management, environmental standards, contract management or business and data analysis;
- the ability to interpret data and an analytical/innovative mindset;
- familiarity with the relevant standards related to German building law and regulations;
- familiarity with the relevant standards and regulations related to real estate rental contracts;
- familiarity with the relevant standards and regulations related to office workplaces.
You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex information. You are keen to collaborate with others, pursue team goals and learn from other people’s diverse perspectives. You strive to know and anticipate stakeholder needs, and will signal any need for change and propose alternative solutions.
