Your team

You will be part of the Governance and Transformation Services (GTS) Division, which acts as a cross functional service platform for more than 800 staff delivering internal services in the fields of administration, human resources, IT and finance.

The Division has more than 70 staff working in the areas of communications, service delivery/optimisation, quality management, financial management, and vendor and service management. Our mission is to transform working methods while fostering collaborative approaches with a focus on people, agility, learning and results.

In your role as a trainee, you will be part of the GTS Digital Transformation team. This is a young, dynamic and collaborative team that delivers insight-driven analytics and automation support to colleagues across the ECB. The team identifies opportunities to transform working methods through data analytics (Tableau dashboards), robotic process automation and chatbots. It develops and implements solutions in close collaboration with diverse stakeholders and business partners.

Your role

As a trainee in the GTS Digital Transformation team, you will:
  • identify and analyse business needs to produce data-driven insights;
  • optimise business processes using robotic process automation;
  • implement chatbots for greater interaction with staff;
  • develop and maintain databases with procurement, project and financial data;
  • code and develop visualisations for efficient data analysis and process optimisation.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential: 
  • a bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of computer science, IT engineering, business informatics, business analytics, statistics, mathematics or another relevant field. You can also apply if you graduated in another subject with a curriculum including relevant elective subjects in the areas of science and technology;
  • knowledge in preparing, handling and analysing datasets based on various data sources;
  • knowledge of Python, R or  a statistical programming language; 
  • excellent analytical and conceptual skills, and an interest in complex technical content;
  • ability to present findings to a non-technical audience; 
  • a good knowledge of the MS Office package;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired: 
  • knowledge of using relational databases and experience in using big data analytical tools on Hadoop or similar big data frameworks;
  • knowledge of agile delivery methods.
