Your team
You will be part of the project team that is preparing the possible launch of a digital euro. The project team is made up of approximately 50 people from different areas of the bank. You will be assigned to the Architecture and Innovation Division in the Directorate General Information Systems.
In your role as IT Architect and Prototype Manager you will be responsible for defining the technical architecture for the digital euro, including its technical integration into existing retail payment infrastructure, and for coordinating the building of a prototype, depending on relevant business decisions.
You will lead a team composed of IT and market infrastructure experts and you will report within the project to the digital euro project manager.

Your role
As a Team Lead IT Architect and Prototype Manager you will:
- manage the definition of the architecture and technical design of the digital euro and its integration within payment systems, i.e.:
- lead the design of the architecture for the digital euro, ensuring, in particular, its security, scalability and reliability;
- collaborate with different IT and market infrastructure teams to ensure that the architecture fits with existing infrastructure, follows relevant policies and guidelines, and is supported by corporate standards and best practices;
- justify and defend the chosen architecture to all stakeholders, including decision-making bodies;
- coordinate the overall prototype delivery, i.e.:
- define the high-level technical architecture of the prototype based on the business requirements;
- draw up the validation strategy for internal and external prototypes;
- organise and steer the IT activities within the different national central banks and service providers that are participating in building the prototype;
- ensure the prototype is delivered according to plan;
- contribute to the preparation of project documentation.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a master’s degree or equivalent in information technology, computer engineering or another relevant field (click here for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of seven years of professional work experience, including at least three years as a design/architecture lead, with proven success in designing, engineering and developing large-scale IT solutions with highly demanding security and reliability requirements;
- a minimum of five years’ professional experience in the payments industry, in the financial sector or in a central bank;
- at least three years of experience in managing teams of highly qualified experts, in an international and diverse context;
- IT system delivery experience in the field of payments and/or market infrastructure;
- experience in managing IT system delivery relying on multiple service providers;
- strong analytical and communication skills;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Desired:
- hands-on experience in the field of retail payments, including the functional and/or technical design of digital currencies;
- professional experience related to the design of core aspects of cryptocurrency systems and technologies, whether blockchain or non-blockchain based;
- working experience in AGILE project delivery methods.
