Your team
You will be part of the Technology and Innovation Division in the Directorate General SSM Governance and Operations.
The Technology and Innovation Division was established as part of the wider reorganisation of ECB Banking Supervision. We are looking for several supervision analysts to join our growing team and support the establishment of the Division.
The Division will be responsible for developing, promoting and implementing innovative supervisory technologies for ECB Banking Supervision. It will also be responsible for managing the core IT systems of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), driving the digital and innovation agenda of the SSM, promoting collaboration within the SSM, simplifying supervisory procedures and overseeing knowledge management in the SSM, including further defining and developing the SSM’s training curriculum.
The SSM is the system of banking supervision in Europe. It comprises the ECB and the national supervisory authorities of the participating countries.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply, irrespective of gender, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability or other characteristics.
Your role
As a Supervision Analyst in the Technology and Innovation Division you will:
- help shape and advance the simplification and digital agenda of the SSM, as well as knowledge management and training trends, by challenging the status quo and providing proposals for improvements;
- help identify and prioritise solutions to business problems and steer innovation from ideation through to proof of concept, production and adoption;
- organise workshops, conferences and training courses to provide SSM banking supervisors with the necessary knowledge to use modern technologies;
- assist with the preparation of briefings, speeches and presentations for diverse audiences;
- engage and collaborate with strategic partners and counterparts in supervisory authorities and other organisations, including start-ups and academic institutions;
- contribute to new releases of core IT systems for banking supervision by liaising with SSM business areas and supporting IT developers in the implementation of system functionality and new data analytics tools, thus helping to digitalise the SSM;
The position offers you an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the SSM while engaging with stakeholders both within Europe and around the world. You will have a unique exposure to cutting-edge developments in the area of supervision and will learn about emerging technological trends. You will network with experts in the field and be a catalyst for innovation in the SSM. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on banking supervision and the lives of European citizens.
Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as business administration, economics, information systems or computer science (click here for details on degree equivalences);
- experience in the field of banking supervision and with supervisory technologies, from a business perspective, including consulting or other advisory services in a supervisory or regulatory context;
- experience of working in a project-based environment involving several stakeholders in which various tasks and processes are handled simultaneously;
- a keen interest in new technologies, IT-related developments and trends, knowledge management and training activities, in particular with regard to the financial industry and banking supervision;
- a sound knowledge and understanding of microprudential supervisory processes and tasks, of the typical challenges facing banking supervisors and of the current IT solutions used in the SSM;
- very good drafting and presentation skills and the ability to prepare speeches and briefings in a clear and concise way for diverse audiences;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Desired:
- a master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as business administration, economics, information systems or computer science;
- practical knowledge and experience of using advanced data visualisation and analytics tools such as Tableau;
- experience in working with business workflow tools, including those which have parametrisation and roles and privileges management functions, as well as with analytical and reporting tools for following up and monitoring, including database queries;
- practical knowledge and experience with testing management tools such as HP ALM.
You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.
You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe.
