Our Directorate General has about 350 staff providing statistical products, services and a wide range of disaggregated data to inform monetary policy and banking supervisory decisions at the ECB and to serve the general public. We work closely with the national central banks of the ESCB, national banking supervisory authorities, Eurostat, the banking industry and other international bodies. Your role As a Senior Adviser you will:

  • communicate and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, standard-setting bodies and regulating bodies, and bring together different opinions to find workable compromises;
  • establish and lead cross-functional and cross-divisional project teams in developing data management and governance principles and fostering their implementation, as well as in developing and promoting ways to create and share reusable analytical solutions.

The position offers you excellent opportunities to be involved in the development of policy advice and in projects of great relevance for the Directorate General and the ECB as a whole. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

  • in addition to the above, a minimum of five and ideally seven or more years’ experience at national or international level in the banking industry, bodies regulating the banking industry, standard-setting bodies or international statistical organisations;
  • a sound understanding of the challenges involved in working and leading teams; • professional experience in data and project management;
  • excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Desired:

  • a PhD in economics, data science or a related field;
  • a publication record in data, data methodologies or data analytics.

You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and can draw on the strengths of a diverse team to get the best results. You support the efforts of team members to develop their abilities and are able to build up high-performing teams. You facilitate change and can articulate strategic priorities and scenarios for your team. You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe. You are motivated to be part of our team and to use your skills and competencies to achieve the objectives of this position.
