Your team

You will be part of the Monetary Statistics Section in the Directorate General Statistics. Our Directorate General has around 300 staff providing macroeconomic statistics, granular financial data and supervisory data for policymaking and microprudential supervision. We are currently working on implementing a new system based on state-of-the-art technology for the collection, production and dissemination of statistics. 

In your role as Research Analyst, you will be part of a team of 20 members of staff responsible for developing, producing and disseminating statistical indicators based on the balance sheets of financial corporations to be used in monetary policymaking and will work closely with economists and analysts working in monetary analysis and financial stability.

Your role

As a Research Analyst you will:
  • run and maintain procedures for compiling and disseminating statistics based on balance sheets of financial corporations such as investment funds, securitisation vehicles, insurance corporations and pension funds;
  • analyse and assess the quality of financial statistics;
  • contribute to ECB statistical publications and dashboards;
  • contribute to the migration to a new IT platform for data and procedures used in the production and dissemination of statistics.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential: 
  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, statistics, data science, finance, economics or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
  • two years of practical experience with regular statistical production and database management; 
  • the ability to develop and maintain code in at least one programming language, such as R, Python, FAME, MATLAB, SAS, Stata or SQL;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
