Your team

You will join the Governance and Transformation Services Division, which acts as a cross-functional service platform under the management of the Chief Services Office (CSO). CSO units have more than 800 staff delivering internal ECB services in the fields of administration, human resources, information systems and finance.

Our Division has around 50 staff providing horizontal services in the areas of communication, service delivery and optimisation, financial management and quality management. We are currently working on transforming working practices in CSO units and fostering collaborative and cross-functional approaches with a strong focus on people, flexibility, learning and results.

This position is in the Division’s internal communication team. You will join a small, dynamic and collaborative team of internal communication experts who seek to continuously improve the services they offer, both across the CSO and beyond, and to improve and innovate the organisation’s ways of working. The team provides engaging and open communications in support of initiatives and projects driven by colleagues working in IT, administration, finance and human resources.

You will bring skills and experience in the areas of drafting and digital communication, creativity and the capacity to think outside of the box, as well as a passion for delivering positive change. We expect you to have experience of coordinating communications projects or services, as well as experience of devising workshops and facilitating collaboration among multiple stakeholders in an engaging way.

Your role

As an internal communication specialist, you will:
  • offer internal communication advice to colleagues;
  • facilitate communication strategies and plans, as well as designing and coordinating internal communication campaigns;
  • create engaging written and audio-visual content (texts, intranet articles, videos, infographics, etc.);
  • design and deliver communications events, training and workshops, as well as advising on communication-related elements of other events and conferences;
  • facilitate communities of practice;
  • lead and develop one of the services that the team offers, guided by quantitative and qualitative indicators measuring our performance.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential:
  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communication, PR, economics, international relations, business administration, political science, sociology, psychology or another relevant field (click here for details on degree equivalences);
  • in addition to the above, a minimum of three years’ experience in the field of communication (of which ideally two or more years in the area of internal communication);
  • a proven ability to give strategic communication advice to internal customers;
  • hands-on experience of customer and stakeholder relationship management at all levels;
  • writing and storytelling skills;
  • a track record of designing and facilitating workshops and meetings or preparing and leading training sessions;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired:
  • sound knowledge and experience of change management;
  • experience with driving communities of practice;
  • knowledge and experience of applying lean practices;
  • experience in coaching, videography and visual communication.

Further information

The contract offered will be fixed-term, the appointment being for 12 months as of the exact starting date of the selected person.

Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints. This may result in a staff member with a non-convertible fixed-term contract being offered a convertible contract in accordance with the ECB Conditions of Employment.
