Your team

You will be part of the Audit Missions Division in the Directorate Internal Audit. Our Directorate has roughly 45 staff providing audit assurance and investigation services. We are a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

The Audit Missions Division, which comprises 25 staff members, performs audits covering all ECB operations. These include monetary policy, banking supervision, payment and settlement systems, and statistics. We also conduct audit work on the ECB’s governance processes as well as on the ECB’s service areas such as accounting, financial reporting, human resources and information technology. Our audits cover both day-to-day operational processes and ongoing projects. In addition, we contribute to the Directorate’s work on internal administrative inquiries by supporting or undertaking investigations led by the Audit Support and Investigations Division.

Our team also contributes to various task forces which coordinate audits performed by the Internal Auditors Committee (IAC) across the ECB, national central banks and national competent authorities. To that end, we collaborate closely both with ECB business areas and the audit functions of those institutions.

The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.

Your role

As an Internal Audit Analyst you will:
  • be part of audit teams and, under the guidance of experienced heads of missions, contribute to audits of business processes related to one or more of the aforementioned areas at the level of the ECB and the IAC;
  • provide relevant input and support audit processes by collecting, structuring and analysing data with the aim of identifying patterns and exceptions;
  • contribute to the assessment of policy frameworks, systems and operations;
  • support investigations by the Audit Support and Investigations Division if required by workload;
  • contribute to the drafting of notes, opinions, briefings and memos;
  • present the results of your work to the members of your audit or investigation team and to internal audit management.

The position offers you excellent opportunities to grow into the role of an internal auditor. Our Directorate supports the professional development of its staff by means of a training and development programme and the possibility to specialise in one or more of the aforementioned areas.

  • good analytical skills and a proven ability to establish analytical procedures and methods, and to apply them to large-scale datasets;
  • good drafting and presentation skills, and the ability to present complex issues in a concise and clear manner to non-specialist audiences both orally and in writing;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired:
