Your team
You will be part of the Innovation and Architecture Services Division in the Directorate General Information Systems. In your role as IT Solution Architect, you will shape the architecture of IT systems in the ECB and the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) together with nine colleagues. In your day-to-day work you will cooperate closely with colleagues and teams across all ECB business areas, contributing to innovation, implementing projects and improving IT services.
You will play a key role in the implementation of the ECB’s public cloud strategy. In doing so, you will liaise closely with other IT architects in national central banks and competent authorities, as well as with industry analysts and key vendors, thereby ensuring that your expertise remains up to date and is complemented with knowledge of emerging and developing IT technologies and architectures.
Furthermore, you will help drive the implementation and evolution of services and technology in crucial areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, systems integration and collaboration.

Your role
As an IT Solution Architect - Cloud and Security, you will:
- facilitate the work of project teams and service coordinators by identifying and designing the most suitable technical solutions for meeting functional and non-functional requirements, while maintaining a focus on security;
- design the ECB’s cloud security architecture together with digital security experts;
- provide technical requirements and guidance for procurement and technology selection activities, including the selection of commercial off-the-shelf software and cloud-based solutions;
- develop and maintain architecture principles, strategies, reference patterns, target state models and road maps for ECB and ESCB business applications and infrastructure;
- proactively assess and advise on the potential use of innovative and promising technologies to address strategic and tactical business requirements.
Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a master’s degree or equivalent in information technology, computer engineering, security science or another relevant field (click here for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of seven years of professional work experience, including at least three years as a design/architecture lead, with proven success in designing, engineering and developing IT solutions;
- hands-on experience with a wide range of information security, software architecture and infrastructure technologies, and of dealing with sensitive data and large data volumes;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Desired:
- experience in the design and development of services in at least two of the following areas:
(i) cloud computing;
(ii) application hosting and delivery platforms, including networking;
(iii) data analytics/data science, big data, data quality management, business intelligence and data warehouse technologies;
(iv) application and data integration architectures, including API design.
- experience in the design of identity and access management solutions;
- knowledge of and experience with enterprise architecture methodologies, frameworks and industry best practices.
