Your team

You will be part of Infrastructure and Operations Services Division in the Directorate General Information Systems. Our Division has 60 staff providing IT infrastructure and end-user services for the whole of the ECB. We are currently working on modernising IT services management disciplines in support of the ECB’s digitalisation journey, which includes migrating IT infrastructure services to the cloud, establishing DevOps practices and modernising the technology stack.

In your role as an IT Infrastructure Specialist, you will be part of the Governance Processes and Tools team, which comprises eight members of staff responsible for ensuring the resilience of IT infrastructure and business services by managing the relevant Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)-based disciplines (such as configuration management, change management, availability management and IT service continuity management) and their implementation in tools (such as IT Service Management tool, Tableau suite) by monitoring their performance through agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) and modernising our technology stack. You will work closely with managed service providers for IT infrastructure and business services.

The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.

Your role

As an IT Infrastructure Specialist, you will:

  • contribute to the daily execution of IT service management processes, especially in the disciplines of configuration management, change management, availability management and IT service continuity management, either directly or by overseeing managed service providers’ quality of service;
  • contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of IT service management disciplines, through process design, development, implementation and testing in the respective tools;
  • analyse stakeholders’ needs and data and effectively design, develop, implement and test reports or dashboards for monitoring and troubleshooting using enterprise reporting tools;
  • maintain existing reports and dashboards and propose and implement enhancements to increase their use and usability;
  • contribute to developing material for end-user training in support of IT service management;
  • organise and conduct training events;
  • contribute to tasks as part of a team, sharing your findings and ideas and, occasionally, presenting your team’s work to the relevant stakeholders;
  • We are seeking candidates for this role who demonstrate the potential for growth, and we will support the selected candidate(s) in their future development of the required knowledge, skills or competencies.

The position offers you excellent opportunities to contribute to the ECB’s digitalisation journey, in particular the transformation of processes to DevOps and their adaptation to upcoming innovations, such as artificial intelligence. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential:
  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, another STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) subject, business administration or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
  • in addition to the above, a minimum of 18 months’ experience in the field of IT services design/innovation, IT engineering or IT operations;
  • advanced experience in analysis/reporting, making use of enterprise reporting tools (e.g. Tableau suite);
  • knowledge of IT infrastructure and end-user services;
  • knowledge of cloud technologies and DevOps methodologies;
  • experience in interacting with a broad range of stakeholders;
  • drafting skills and the ability to present complex matters simply and clearly;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired:
  • professional experience with issue tracking and test execution tools;
  • professional experience with cloud technologies;
  • professional experience with DevOps methodologies;
  • understanding of modern IT architectures.

You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.

You are motivated to be part of our team and to develop and use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.
