Your team
You will work as an Economist in the Directorate General Research. We are seeking economists who hold, or are close to completing, a PhD in economics or finance.
The main responsibilities of the Directorate General are to conduct research in macroeconomics, monetary and international economics, financial intermediation and financial markets, labour economics, macroeconometrics and the economics of climate change; and to provide research-based policy advice in these areas, applying conceptual frameworks and macroeconometric models for policy analysis.

Your role
As an Economist in the Directorate General Research you will:
- conduct and publish high-quality research;
- provide research-based policy advice, which may involve developing new models and tools.

ECB economists conduct cutting-edge research published in peer-reviewed journals and contribute substantively to policy analyses used by the ECB’s Executive Board and Governing Council.
Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a PhD in economics, finance or a related field, or you must be close to completing a PhD in one of these fields (click here for details on degree equivalences);
- research papers at the standard of high-quality peer-reviewed academic journals;
- if you received your PhD more than three years ago, a publication record that is commensurate with your seniority, comprising papers published in high-quality peer reviewed academic journals;
- excellent presentation and communication skills;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.

Working modalities
We are willing to discuss part-time arrangements. We offer internationally competitive salaries and allowances. Taxes on salaries, allowances and benefits are paid to the European Communities instead of the national tax authorities. Please have a closer look at what we offer.
The minimum salary for this F/G (1) position is € 4,852 plus benefits.

Application and selection process
The recruitment process for this position will include a 90-minute seminar, in which you will present a research paper, and interviews.
The on-site interviews for this position will take place from 11 January 2021.
