Your team
You will be part of the Monetary Policy Committee Secretariat (MPC) in the Directorate General Economics. Our Directorate General includes three staff members who provide administrative and secretarial support to the Chair and the members of the Committee. The main deliverables of a Business Process Assistant in the MPC Secretariat comprise assisting in the flexible organisation of a high volume of physical, hybrid and virtual meetings, proactively handling secret documents, as well as responding flexibly to the MPC’s business needs.
Your tasks will include processing documents, such as agendas (parts of which may be secret), meeting documentation, summaries and written procedures, and circulating them to the relevant parties in a timely manner, interacting with other relevant stakeholders at all levels within the Directorate General and, where relevant, across the organisation. You will be working in a team of highly dedicated people, as well as with all the MPC members from all the national central banks (NCBs).
You will be part of the MPC support team, comprising a total of 30 members of staff drawn from the ECB and from all the NCBs. You will work closely with the Director General Economics and the Secretariat of the ECB’s Executive Board.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
Your role
As a Business Process Assistant you will:
- contribute to the day-to-day business processes performed by the MPC Secretariat;
- coordinate the organisation, preparation and conduct of, and follow-up to, MPC meetings and the related written procedures;
- engage and collaborate with the relevant stakeholders on input into the work of the MPC and the sharing of information;
- support the MPC Secretaries in the fulfilment of their tasks;
- initiate procedures to ensure that the MPC responds in a timely manner to consultations by other committees;
- contribute to the smooth functioning of the MPC’s technical infrastructure (including relevant DARWIN procedures);
- participate in MPC meetings, when needed.
The position offers you excellent opportunities to work for a committee that is involved in a wide array of important policy-relevant matters. The position will enable you to gain deep insights into the ECB’s monetary policy decision-making and the various stages of this process. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- relevant vocational training or equivalent or a university degree in business administration or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of two years’ professional experience in the field of administrative support;
- sound understanding of complex processes required in the context of providing secretarial support to a committee at an international institution similar to the ECB;
- excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
- professional experience with archiving systems and data management (e.g. DARWIN);
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
You are recognised as someone who supports others proactively. You work constantly to improve your own output and you learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. Your strong capacity for analytical thinking enables you to work with incomplete information and you deliver in line with stakeholder needs.
You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe.
You are motivated to be part of our team and to develop and use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.

We would be happy to discuss a part-time arrangement for this role.
