Your team

You will be part of the Premises Division in the Directorate Administration, which is part of the Directorate General Corporate Services. Our Division is responsible for real estate management, space and workplace allocation management, construction project management services and operation and maintenance of the ECB’s buildings, as well as for coordinating the ECB’s art-related activities. We also have a small data management and analytics team that analyses data from various databases, with a focus on facility management and technical documentation for our buildings.

In your role as an audio and media technician, you will be part of the Technical Facility Management Section, which is made up of 25 members of staff who are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ECB’s premises. We provide technical expertise to ensure cost and quality control in the operation and improvement of the buildings and their technical infrastructure. We work closely with colleagues in the real estate, construction, security, IT and administration teams . Additionally, we conduct contract supervision and technical supervision for external service providers.

The audio and media team  is responsible for audio, lighting and projection support for meetings and conferences. The team’s members operate ECB conference room equipment and manage the recording of high-level meetings. This involves close collaboration with the logistics team, the catering team and colleagues in communications, IT and administration . For construction projects, the team’s members provide project managers with specialist knowledge. As well as an internal team, we have a framework contractor who provides us with rental equipment and technicians when needed.

Your role

As an audio and media technician, you will:

  • provide expertise in the field of audio and media; 
  • prepare and run conferences and meetings of the ECB’s decision-making bodies and various ECB business areas;
  • provide expertise in the field of dashboard development for both team members and management;
  • manage the work of our external service providers in your area of responsibility, using our computer-aided facility management system and a set of key performance indicators;
  • strive to continuously improve systems and related services, including communication  between premises and relevant stakeholders , including external service providers;
  • contribute to successful event management at the ECB.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential: 

  • a formal qualification in audio and media systems, event equipment and technology or a related field;
  • in addition to the above, a minimum of five years’ experience operating, maintaining and repairing hybrid audio and media systems for conferences, press briefings and board meetings;
  • sound knowledge of German technical standards for audio andmedia systems, as well as of German legal requirements for audio and media systems;
  • a working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams; 
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. 

Desired: 

  • a working knowledge of computer-aided facility management systems, such as Planon;
  • professional experience in an international environment; 
  • experience in digital or networked audio and media systems;
  • experience with media controller systems.

Working modalities

You will sometimes be required to be on-call outside your normal working hours.
